TABLES, The Amazing Brentwood’s stylish and welcoming food court has become a new destination for casual dining in Burnaby. With 19 vendors across the food court, the space is the perfect hub for people to gather and spend time together sharing a casual meal.
SHAPE Properties enlisted Margot Richards Lighting Consulting to develop the concept for this hospitality lighting project. In Richards’ own words, the intent of the lighting design was to “create a food court that didn’t have a typical food court feel. The notion was to create a casual meeting and dining place. Light levels were kept deliberately low to enable the focus to be on the eateries and furniture groupings.” Warm wood elements paired with greenery reflect the nature of the west coast, and the lighting design worked to enhance those features.
Custom light fixtures from Viso Lighting catch guests’ attention and help create a modern, welcoming environment. Luminis Syrios square cylinders provide background ambient lighting across a variety of seating and Feelux FLT track system ensure food vendors have the right task lighting. Both Viso Lighting and Luminis are Canadian lighting manufacturers, based in Toronto and Montreal respectively.
According to SHAPE, the design of this space “helps create a high energy environment even on the dreariest of days, which can be greatly attributed to the lighting scheme. We’ve heard on many occasions that the experience feels like something you would see in Asia or Europe and that it’s their best food court experience to date!”
