Project Story: Diagrid at The Amazing Brentwood

The Amazing Brentwood is taking shape as a 28-acre neighbourhood with premier residential, shopping, entertainment and social community. The heart of Brentwood is their signature plaza — an open-sky space where guests can relax on the plaza, soak up some sun by the fountain, or enjoy a coffee and take it all in. A key feature of the plaza is the Diagrid’s facade lighting encasing shops and part of the food court.

SHAPE Properties enlisted Margot Richards Lighting Consulting to help create a glowing box of light that could change to fit various aesthetics. “The desire was to have the lighting change colour to integrate with other colour-changing features in the project. Luminii Kendo M Exterior RGBW linear lighting was integrated into the mullions in a V-configuration with only two strips used in each of the 5′-8″ x 5′-8″ panels”, mentions Richards.

She continues, “The architects specified fritted glass to assist in distributing the coloured light across the surface to capture the opposing side mullions. The installation was a challenge with all the wiring, including DMX that was routed through the mullions. It was a painstaking process, but the end result was amazing!”
