Site Tour: MEC Vancouver Store by Proscenium

You are invited on a tour of the new MEC Flagship Store project designed by Proscenium Architecture and Interiors.

MEC’s new flagship store was designed under the company’s sustainability agenda, using innovative technology to minimize its environmental footprint and provide an enhanced and healthy environment for both its customers and employees. The project’s construction is a combination of concrete, wood, and steel. Notably, the glulam columns, beams, CLT floor slabs, and uniquely shaped seismic bracing have been left exposed throughout as part of the building’s architectural expression. The retail floors feature an interconnected space tied together with a raw steel feature stair. The SW corner of the building’s façade is clad in a metal panel who’s individually bent perforations create the image of a mountainscape connecting the building with not only the MEC brand but also the natural beauty that surrounds Vancouver. The roof above Level 3 is composed of vegetated green and blue roofs which collect water for re-use within the building. The building is designed to achieve LEED Gold certification.

The site tour of the MEC Flagship store project is a great opportunity to see a unique use of materials and CLT construction.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for this tour. Boots and hardhat are mandatory.
