WIA Mentorship | Meet n’ Greet

We are excited to announce that WIA Mentorship Program is back! Whatever part of our journey we are on, we occasionally need a little advice, feedback, or someone to be a sounding board. If this is something you think would like to participate in, join in!

This program started in 2015 by WIA and included a Meet’n Greet event which resulted in many of us finding mentors or helping others as a mentor. We have organized another event to expand and improve the program.

The types of mentoring this initiative might encompass includes:
– AIBC-required mentoring as part of the intern process,
– SALA’s mentoring of students
– Women working in architecture who simply would like to have a go-to person with whom they can share ideas, ask questions, or get a different perspective about what they are doing and where they are going in their careers.

The evening will be broken up into 3 portions:
Phase 1: A quick introduction period
Phase 2: A speed-dating period: People repeatedly pair up, trade business cards, introduce one another and state what each can offer and is looking for, then pair up with new partners
Phase 3: Unstructured mingling: Social, unstructured mingling period with coffee and/or cocktails. Each participant can follow up with the people who felt like the most promising “best fits.”
