This one-hour seminar summarizes the key design criteria for barrier-free design as regulated by the 2010 edition of the National Building Code of Canada (NBC). Attendees will learn about the requirements associated with a path of travel throughout a building and where the path of travel is not required. Barrier-free washroom design, visual obstructions in corridors, barrier-free designated fixed seating and counters will be also be reviewed. Additionally, the seminar will introduce the CAN/CSA-B651 Standard for Barrier-free design and will present selected highlights of the CSA standard for barrier-free accessibility not regulated by the NBC for elements within the built environment.
