Webinar: Accessibility Requirements based on the National Building Code of Canada

This one-hour webinar summarizes the key design criteria for barrier-free design as regulated by the 2015 edition of the National Building Code of Canada (NBC). Attendees will learn about the requirements associated with a path of travel throughout a building and where the path of travel is not required. Barrier-free washroom design, visual obstructions in corridors, barrier-free designated fixed seating and counters will be also be reviewed. Additionally, the seminar will introduce the CAN/CSA-B651 Standard for Barrier-free design and will present selected highlights of the CSA standard for barrier-free accessibility not regulated by the NBC for elements within the built environment.

Lisa Miller-Way is a Senior Associate, Project Manager and team leader with LRI – the oldest and largest professional engineering firm in Canada specializing in Building Code consulting and fire protection engineering. She is a graduate of Conestoga College (Architecture Construction Engineering Technology), a member of the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists [OACETT] and a member of Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO).
