MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY
Friday June 10 & Saturday August 13

This huge enclave is Vancouver’s only cemetery, and the last resting place of many of the city’s notables and prominent citizens. We’ll visit the graves of a few of the men and women whose lives contributed to Vancouver’s history, and whose presence remains remarkable even after death.

VANCOUVER’S ART DECO
Friday June 17

Vancouver has some amazing examples of the ebullient Art Deco movement. We’ll revel in the grand dames of this elaborate architectural style, both past and present. Join us to also get to know some examples you have walked by but probably never noticed. Wear your Bakelite baubles!

HASTINGS PARK AND THE PNE FAIRGROUNDS
Saturday June 25

Over the past century, Hastings Park has undergone many transformations in order for it to become the entertainment and sporting destination that we see today. We will visit several of the keystone buildings and sites that highlight its development, that will evoke moments of sporting glory, of architectural and cultural transformation, of greening efforts, and of the park’s darker history.

THE FALSE CREEK FLATS
Friday July 8 & Saturday September 10

The Flats have long evolved from when they were filled in by railroads over a century ago. The area continues to change dramatically as they move from muddy industrial lands to a coveted development destination. You’ll see everything from former waterfront properties, to developing educational campuses, to potential hospital grounds.

GRANDVIEW: PLACES OF WORSHIP
Friday August 19

This vibrant neighbourhood has always been dotted with places of worship. Some remain, have changed hands, or are in transition. This religious microcosm reflects what is transpiring across the city with similar heritage properties: new uses, new cultural groups and development. Come explore at least five very different sites that are at various stages of their historical course.
