You can either ask for permission now or ask for forgiveness later. Choosing between creating sanctioned and non-sanctioned artwork in public spaces can force us to interrogate our risk tolerance, artistic vision, and collaborative skills. Whether installing a temporary intervention or negotiating a commissioned mural, there are legal implications and negotiations that artists need to consider. This presentation will introduce topics such as contract negotiation, potential legal consequences, and preserving your moral and constitutional rights.
Speaker: Danielle Sabelli is the co-fouder of Broken City Lab, an artist-led interdisciplinary artist collective and non-profit organization, in addition to practicing law.
Location: NB 291
