On Tuesday June 27th, 2017 we will tour the new Polygon Gallery in North Vancouver. The Presentation House Gallery is an internationally-renowned photography art gallery that has partnered with the City of North Vancouver to develop a distinctive and community-focused space at the foot of Lonsdale Avenue on the waterfront. The new Polygon Gallery will promote visual culture of the past and present, locally, nationally, to internationally.
The Polygon Gallery is the largest non-profit photography and media art gallery in Canada and also provides a venue for events and art education programs.
Designed by Paktkau Architects, the building is both simple and bold. The largely closed mass of the upper level is animated by virtue of the saw-tooth roof profile of the north-facing clerestory glazing and a cladding which sparkles and shimmers under changing light conditions. The upper volume is cantilevered assertively beyond the fully glazed plaza level below.
The grand opening of the Polygon Gallery is in November 2017 – we are privileged to receive a sneak peak of the space courtesy of Turnbull Construction Project Managers, Paktkau Architects and The Haebler Group!
