Open house: Outdoor Lighting Strategy

We have teamed up with the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre to present Vancouver Illuminated:  a celebration of Vancouver’s night sky and opportunity to engage residents about the City’s Outdoor Lighting Strategy.

Join us for an evening of discovery about Vancouver’s night sky! Drop in for information about our strategy, free activities, and prizes. While you’re at it, enjoy a Planetarium show at 7:30pm and 9pm for just $5.

6:30pm – 10:00pm  Vancouver Illuminated Open House

• Chat with City staff about our Outdoor Lighting Strategy and tell us what you think
• Take a free walk through the Space Centre’s  Cosmic Courtyard .
• Learn what animals depend on natural darkness through Stanley Park Ecology Society’s Interactive dark exhibit
• Find out what other organizations like the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada are doing about light pollution
• Test your knowledge about outdoor light pollution and you could win a gift card to Dark Table!

7:30pm and 9pm Planetarium Shows ($5 tickets, register to secure your seat)

Buy a discounted ticket to see a show in the Planetarium projection dome. After each movie, you’ll get a bonus live look and interpretation of Vancouver’s night sky!

• 9pm – Planetarium Show: ‘Phantom of the Universe’
