Negotiating Your Equity Compensation

June 13, 2022 @ 9:00 am - 10:00 am

ABOUT THIS FIELD TRIP

Join us to learn how to negotiate a life-changing equity grant ahead of accepting any job or consulting gig.

The goal of the FieldTrip is to set you up with the foundations and mechanics of equity compensation so that you can secure the highest possible equity grant from your employer on your way into the company. Alternatively, if you are consulting to start-ups, you will be able to negotiate equity grants as compensation instead of cash.

No experience in negotiating equity is necessary to participate

✨WHAT TO EXPECT

We will explore…

✅ 3 Main Types Of Equity Grants

✅ 3 Reasons Why Companies Are Incentivized To Grant Equity

✅ 3 Reasons Why Equity Compensation Should Matter So Much To You

✅ Employee Stock Option Plans: 15 Key Terms & Basic Mechanics

✅ Equity Compensation Negotiations: Key Asks & Your Negotiating Leverage

ABOUT YOUR HOST

Brooke Harley has seen equity compensation and the negotiation process from all sides. As a junior lawyer, she drafted stock option plans for her firm’s clients. As an employee of Lululemon, she successfully negotiated a major equity grant for herself before the company became a globally recognized brand. As a consultant, she negotiated equity compensation for her services with start-ups including LIVEKINDLY, which was later acquired. She has also negotiated for equity as an investor. And now, as the Founder and CEO of ClassRebel, she structures her own employees’ contracts to include stock options.
