MOV Built City Speaker Series

MOV’s Built City Speaker Series returns for an exhilarating round table discussion. This event, in partnership with Architecture Canada – Metro Vancouver Chapter, will focus on one of Vancouver’s hottest topics: built local affordable housing models for families.

Moderated by Gloria Venczel from Architecture Canada – Metro Vancouver Chapter, this impressive group of Vancouver housing advocates and professionals will discuss the issues surrounding quality living spaces for families, including affordable housing models and family oriented public spaces.

Panellists

Larry Beasley, former Co-Director of Planning at the City of Vancouver, will address the Third Housing Sector for affordable housing models.

Tiffany Duzita, Director of Development, BC Land Trust will introduce a new, non-subsidized cooperative family housing concept for Metro Vancouver.

Bruce Haden, architect and urban critic, will speak to the design of community gathering spaces for building neighbourhood vibrancy.

In an effort to reach the ‘silent majority’ in public consultations for affordable housing, or those who are too busy with their young families, Colleen Hardwick, CEO of PlaceSpeak, will discuss the convenient GIS location based online public consultation tool.

Adrian Crook, from Abundant Housing and blog host of 5 Kids, 1Condo blog will challenge popular notions of the kind of spaces necessary for raising kids.

**RAIC Members: No advance tickets necessary. You can pay at the door the evening of the event to receive the membership rate. Doors open at 6:30pm. We will hold back a sufficient number of tickets for RAIC purchases. No need to call ahead.
