Lighting control is the opportunity to give structure and life to a building in many different ways. This can be thru fixed definition: “Lights are on, somebody is home” to creating a self-monitoring, automated, living structure that comes alive when you enter and goes to sleep when you leave. How this is done is a process that requires the designer to first understand who they are designing for and what they are capable of accepting. From there the design can be established and become the full potential of its purpose. In this course we will learn the process of a full design methodology and how to create tools that help the user insure its success over time to understand “Light, as We Don’t See It”.
Lighting control and integration with new commercial buildings with focus on the challenges of design of controls, installation with contractors, and commissioning of lighting controls. Outline the roles of design team, electrical & mechanical engineers, and ideal process for commissioning of new building to ensure energy savings is optimized with lighting controls and HVAC controls.
