The time has come to bring human health and comfort to the forefront of building practices and reinvent buildings that are not only better for the planet—but also for people. This session will introduce how to accomplish this using the WELL Building Standard as the framework. Led by Kathy Wardle, Associate Principal and Director of Research at Perkins and Will, the session will be aimed at design professionals, contractors, developers, owners, facilities managers, sustainability consultants, government officials and anyone interested in furthering health through design of the built environment, specifically in commercial and institutional building types. Enjoy a tasty lunch, in a smart location, whilst gaining an overview of the WELL building standard ideology, structure and certification process.
As Associate Principal and Director of Research, Kathy directs Perkins+Will Vancouver office’s research and sustainable design advisory team. Kathy helped author, implement and direct Perkins+Will’s Sustainable Design Initiative across the firm. She regularly speaks and writes about sustainable design and healthy materials, and has authored several articles on healthy building materials and transparency. Kathy is a member of the City of Vancouver’s Green Building Advisory Committee, Co-Chair of the International Living Future Institute Cascadia Congress, and is a past-chair of the Cascadia Green Building Council.
