What is the Tom Park Bursary
In 2013 the Business Development Committee created a bursary to recognise deserving Interior Design student(s)
within the province of BC. The bursary is named after a beloved member of the BC design community, former
IDIBC Business Development Committee Liaison Chair, Tom Park (1946 – 2012).
The bursary shall be awarded to an eligible student nominee who best exemplifies the spirit of participation and
volunteerism within the interior design profession above and beyond their curriculum requirements, making an
impact on their future profession and furthering the goals of IDIBC.
The Tom Park Student Bursary is open to any full or part time student member of IDIBC in good standing, who is
either a resident of BC. for provincial tax purposes, or enrolled in a CIDA accredited 4 year bachelor degree of
interior design program in BC. To be eligible the nominee must be a student in the degree program in the calendar
year in which they are nominated.
This Bursary is currently set at $750 and will be presented at the IDIBC Shine Awards or alternate venue at the
discretion of the IDIBC. Students are required to fill in the application form including:
? Statement as to why they would be a good candidate for the award (listing volunteerism and
contributions within the interior design profession)
? Minimum of two letters of reference supporting their claim
? Applicant is encouraged to highlight leadership roles, time contributions, and committee participation.
