Gray Conversations: A Living with Wood Design Forum

February 24, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm

$22.5

Wood has played an essential part of the human experience since the beginning of civilization. Wood as a material has been used in a myriad of ways; in structures, décor, furniture and art, as it presents to the builder and artisan a multitude of possibilities for expression. As a natural living material, wood transforms with time and records its history along these transformations. As an element that can be readily manipulated by hand, wood forms the basis of many inspirational designs. And as a natural infinite resource, it has become the focal point of a discussion around sustainability in design and construction.

BC Wood will host a dynamic discourse with some of the Pacific Northwest’s top design talent. Join us at the Museum of Vancouver for Gray Conversation: A Living with Wood Design Forum for an inspiring panel discussion delving into the topics of wood and design. The panelists will share their experiences on the process of design as it relates to the products we live and interact with, rather than the structures we inhabit.

In conjunction with the panel discussion, the submissions from a student design competition will be showcased. This display will feature innovative approaches to designing with wood to create specialty home décor products and furniture. The pieces on display prior to the panel discussion will allow the public to engage with talented young designers and get the discussion going!
