Culture and Wayfinding: The Visual Language of Moving People through Space

May 12, 2018 @ 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

$10

The Visual Language of Moving People through Space

JOIN THE LIVELY DISCUSSION around wayfinding, signage, iconography and messages in built environments. What’s accessible? What’s inclusive? How do we integrate multiple languages, genders and cultures and what effect does that have on our experience of the built environment? This evening is brought to you by your local SEGD – Society for Experiential Graphic Design, Vancouver Chapter, Subculture at Creative Co-workers and 3M Canada as part of Vancouver Design Week 2018.

Our expert panel, representing the client, the designer, the fabricatorand the educator will pick apart the cultural implications of messages which aim to communicate from the simple to the complex—from where is the washroom and for whom—to the naming of place in the age of reconciliation. Rapid fire presentations will be followed by a short curated panel discussion on the highlights of wayfinding today with as much audience participation as we can handle.
