We are very excited to announce that we are having a bonus Canadian Construction Women event on Tuesday April 26th, 2016 – a site tour of Christ Church Cathedral!
Christ Church Cathedral is located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, the church of the Anglican Diocese of New Westminster. It was built in the Gothic style and dedicated in 1895.
The Christ Church Cathedral seismic upgrade project began in 2015 and includes a new standing seam zinc roof, kitchen renovation and expansion and installation of a new glazed bell tower for an estimatedconstruction cost of $6 million. The scaffold structure that encases the entire church will provide protection from the elements during removal of the existing roof – you can find out more about the scaffold system here. The scaffold also contains an Apollo Beam Gantry crane that has been created specifically for this project.
On our tour of the Cathedral, we will be accessing the scaffold that towers above the cathedral roof works – please be aware that the tour may not be suitable for those who are not comfortable with heights.
Agenda
5.30pm – 6pm – Registration and Site Orientation (please meet in the alley behind the church at Burrard and West Georgia)
6pm – 7pm – Site Tour
7pm – 8.30pm – Dinner (location TBA)
Please note that you are required to have personal protective equipment – CSA approved safety boots, hard hat and high visibility vest – to access this active construction site. Anyone not in posession of these items at event registration will not be permitted to attend the tour.
