Can Vancouver go Dutch? An Eventing with the Dutch Cycling Embassy

October 5, 2017 @ 7:30 pm - 10:00 pm

With 22.5 million bicycles for a population of 18 million, the Netherlands may be the world’s top cycling nation. However, there remains an erroneous belief that – while the Dutch can provide encouragement – their methods are unrepeatable, and their results unattainable. Miles of separated cycle tracks, dedicated bike streets, and off-street paths are something that only works for “them” and not “us”. But even they started somewhere. Can the country that has spent decades building comfortable cycling infrastructure provide a blueprint for North American cities?

On Thursday, October 5th, you are invited to join Modacity and the Dutch Cycling Embassy for an evening of dialogue, film, and networking at DUDOC (1489 Frances Street). Doors open at 7:30pm. Entry is free of charge through the generous support of Urban Systems, although reservations are required via Eventbrite. Refreshments will be kindly provided by Central City Brewing and Bandidas Taqueria.
