This three hour presentation introduces the principles of using human and building sciences to comply with a thermal comfort standard in residential buildings. Includes a discussion on the impact of climate change on the indoor build environment and the consequences to the infirm, infants and elderly occupying code-built homes. Strategies and tactics for passive cooling for buildings in BC climates are presented. Additionally, two case studies describing building and occupant comfort design challenges and solutions in mixed and cold climates is explored.
Completion of this webinar counts towards Continuing Professional Development (2.75 HPO CPD credits).

Speaker
Robert Bean, R.E.T., P.L.(Eng.) is a registered engineering technologist in building construction (ASET) and a professional licensee in mechanical engineering (APEGA). He is president of Indoor Climate Consulting Inc. and technical director for www.healthyheating.com. Robert is an appointed member of the ASHRAE Presidential Residential Building Committee and serves on ASHRAE Technical Committees 6.1 (Radiant), 6.5 (Hydronics), 7.4 (eXergy) and SSPC 55 Standards Committee for Thermal Environmental Conditions for Human Occupancy.
