On September 2nd from 1 to 3pm in our 50 Water St showroom, co-authors Larry Beasley and Jonathan Barnett present their latest publication Ecodesign for Cities and Suburbs.
This new book emphasizes vital Ecodesign themes for survival of modern cities, integrating environmental imperatives (“Eco”) and contemporary demands for a very high quality of life (“Design”). It covers challenges in adapting city design to a changing climate along with re-shaping cities to limit global warming, re-energizing suburban commercial corridors with bus rapid transit, reclaiming wasteful transportation infrastructure for public amenities, and making cities more attractive for family living.
The book talks about: solutions for a city’s environmental compatibility; potentials for diversifying movement choices; urban consumers’ aspirations for quality livability; and the practical ways and means to make things happen differently than in the past. The book is filled with real-life examples that can be applied by anyone anywhere.
