On June 27th and 28th the University of British Columbia (UBC) in partnership with the Netherlands Consulate in Vancouver and the Fraser Basin Council will host a workshop on how to create a resilient Fraser Delta.

The workshop will engage local and international experts, and focus on options to mitigate the local impact of climate change and natural events – such as the floods that have most recently impacted the lower mainland.

In several interactive sessions, we will discuss how these challenges can be approached in an integrated way. The following topics are on the agenda:

⋅ Climate adaptation in an urbanized delta

⋅ Flood protection and Interaction between water and land

⋅ Extreme events and storm water

⋅ Earthquakes and land subsidence
